When I was eight the doctor said the only way
to fix my pigeon-toes was to break my legs
and reset them straight. Dad said it’d be less
painful to just let me walk crooked. And so it is.

Founded and edited by Chandra E.A. Dickson, Poetry for the Masses is a public art project published online with the assistance of JoMama Press and Brian Ast.

Every issue features five to six poems from new and established poets in a broadside format.

Available through electronic subscription, we encourage our readers to print each issue on 11×17 paper and place it in places where poetry would normally not be found. If you’re interested in a free subscription, please email us

We look for poetry that is not only high quality, but also accessible to the public at large. We publish a wide variety of poetry styles, but we tend not to publish end-rhymed poetry, inspirational verse or long poems.

Please send submissions of three to five poems (we prefer poetry under 40 lines) of your best work. We don’t mind reading new writers but no longer have time to send comments. If you are unsure if your work will fit in our format please view the past issues.
